Criteria

  • This scholarship is awarded based on academic performance and financial need.
  • All applicants will be considered, regardless of sex or religion.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. minority citizen and a graduating high school senior.
  • Applicant must have been accepted to a school of higher learning, specifially a college, university, or technical institute. Applicant must attach a copy of acceptance letter.
  • Applicant must send an official high school transcript (to exec.asst@chapmanfoundation.com) and have maintained at least a 2.8 GPA during his/her high school career.
  • Applicant must send two letters of recommendation, one which must be from a teacher.
  • Choose one of these 6 topics to submit a 250 word essay:
    1. Pick an experience from your own life and explain how it has influenced your development.
    2. How has your education contributed to who you are today?
    3. Briefly describe your long and short term goals.
    4. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
    5. Why do you want to get a college education?
    6. Who in your life has been your biggest influence and why?
  • Applicants must be postmarked no later than June 15th of the current year. Final decisions will be made by the first of August.
  • The Scholarship will be awarded by semester: 50% at the beginning of the first semester and 50% at the beginning of the second semester.
  • Recipient must send a proof for both semester enrollments per semester to Chapman Foundation P.O. Box 6533 Greenville, S.C. 29607 in order to receive second semester funds.
  • Checks will be sent directly to the school attending. Should the recipient fail to return to school the second semester for any reason, the second semester funds will be forfeited.
